ABOUT

Meet Ivy

I am a mum, Science Teacher, who loves to have a good laugh. I love to listen to Afro-beats which my boys roll their eyes to, especially when I break out into a dance in the middle of cooking dinner. At least my daughter joins in as she has caught the Afro-Beats bug from me. My leisure/me time is a very important time for me as it gives me the time to rejuvenate and lounge about.

I am an outgoing introvert and a realist at heart. I am an empathetic and compassionate person, but don't let that fool you because, I am certainly not a pushover. I bring honesty and integrity to my work and my ability to listen hard to my clients as a coach enables me to help and gently challenge them to navigate their perspective of the world and how it may be holding them back.

"Ivy has a passion to help people which really shows through in the sessions, she has a great smile and so much enthusiasm. Even on first introduction she made me feel very relaxed and at ease. There is no judgement so you can say what is really troubling you without any worry".

My personal Journey

I have had to deal with a lot of mindset transformation myself, especially moving from Cameroon to the UK in 2008 with my 18 month old son. My personal journey started the first time I stepped into a classroom to shadow a teacher here in the UK. To my utter dismay, it couldn't have been any further than what I knew in my role as a Chemistry Teacher back in Cameroon. I could not fathom the disparity in attitude and behaviour of the students here in the UK compared to Cameroon.
Fast forward, to me, completing my teacher training and getting my first job, I struggled with behaviour management in particular. I had never failed at anything that I put my mind to, talk less of failing at my job. The more I struggled, the more my confidence was depleted. My self belief and self-esteem were hugely under attack as well. I could not believe that, despite working more and more hours, I was still struggling. So my husband graciously bought me the book, "The Power of positive Thinking". I started doing much introspection and questioning my actions and attitude towards my job. That was the birth of my coaching journey. I eventually went on to train to become a Coach and NLP Practitioner.
Looking back now, I realisedd that it was not the lack of know how in my job that led to my struggles. It was the following:
  • I did not know my points of power as a teacher and certainly did not use them to help with behaviour management, asserting myself and other aspects of the job.  So, in simpler words, I did not know "ME".
  • I did not reflect on areas in my practice that needed improvement and therefore could not do anything about them.
  • I did not challenge any assumed constarints about myself, the job and others.
  • I lacked intentionality in managing my time and resources effectively, therefore my general wellbeing was affected too.
  • I was not aware of growth opportunities within my career and life in a new country so I felt generally stuck and stagnant.
Through engaging in the deep inner work by focusing on improving all of the above and much more, I soon went from self-doubt to unshakeable self belief. My confidence in my ability to inititate, manage and correct my course as I went along grew tremendously. I could make confident indepenedent decisions that moved me forward in my job. The change also extended to my personal and relational life with my loved ones.

Since becoming a certified Coach and NLP Practitioner, I have supported all my clients to become self leaders too; taking ownership of and leading their lives with purpose and passion thus influencing and impacting the world around them.
